The birth of Human x Ai Art
Since 2021, Aleksandra Mallet and Jukka Multisilta have been pioneering Human x Ai Art, by pushing the boundaries of the art landscape by combining traditional artistry with cutting-edge Ai technology.
The first Human x Ai Art paintings were based on Aleksandra’s unique style developed during her years living in Mexico and working with Mexican artists.
The canvases for the first Human x Ai Art paintings were made by using Ai to extract the style and colors from Aleksandra’s ‘Cactus Mania’ painting, and applying them to images of classical Finnish artworks and other input images.
The resulting digital images showcased Ai’s interpretation of how the artworks would look like when made with Aleksandra’s style.
These digital images were printed on canvas, and the final artworks were created by Aleksandra by painting layers on top of the printed canvas - to correct and augment the Ai’s interpretations of her style.
Evolution of Human x Ai Art
After the first exhibition, Aleksandra and Jukka have continued evolving Human x Ai Art by adopting different painting techniques like tempera, and exploring the edge of technology as new Ai tools are released.
The project took a pivotal turn in 2023 with the inception of KarelianGPT, an AI Art Mentor, and Aino A, the world's first AI Artist powered by ChatGPT.
Together, by making Human x Ai Art, they explore themes ranging from AI's self-identity to reimagining historical tales like Kalevala in the context of AI.
